AI Disclaimer
Last updated: August 30, 2026
Chef is a project control plane operated by MaxPoints LLC, doing business as MaxPoints ("MaxPoints," "we," "us," or "our"). Chef uses artificial intelligence in project chat and in local and cloud coding workers that can help plan work, analyze project context, and carry out software-development tasks. This AI Disclaimer applies to AI-generated responses, plans, summaries, code, configurations, recommendations, and actions made available through Chef (collectively, "AI Outputs").
By using Chef's AI-powered features, you acknowledge this AI Disclaimer. Your use of Chef is also governed by our Terms and Conditions and our Privacy Policy.
AI Outputs may be inaccurate
Artificial intelligence is probabilistic and may produce AI Outputs that are inaccurate, incomplete, misleading, outdated, biased, offensive, insecure, or unsuitable for your project. An AI Output may appear confident or plausible even when it is wrong, and similar instructions may produce different results. MaxPoints does not independently verify every AI Output and does not represent that an AI Output is truthful, original, complete, current, error-free, secure, or free of third-party rights.
Human review and project safeguards
You are responsible for reviewing and validating AI Outputs before relying on, publishing, sharing, deploying, or merging them. Appropriate review may include inspecting proposed changes, testing generated code and configurations, checking sources and factual claims, scanning for security vulnerabilities and license concerns, and confirming that the result matches your instructions and project requirements.
Chef workers may read repository files, run commands and tests, install dependencies, edit code, create and push branches, and participate in approval and merge workflows. Some project settings can allow completed work to be approved and merged automatically, which may trigger a deployment through a connected provider. Configure repository protections, validation commands, worker permissions, approval settings, and independent backups at a level appropriate for your project.
You remain responsible for decisions, code, deployments, actions, omissions, and results arising from your use of Chef's AI-powered features, including actions taken in repositories, infrastructure, data, or connected services.
No professional advice
AI Outputs are provided for general informational and software-development purposes only. They do not constitute legal, financial, tax, medical, cybersecurity, compliance, or other professional advice and do not create a professional-client relationship. Consult a qualified professional before making decisions that could affect legal rights, finances, health, safety, security, or regulatory compliance.
Your instructions, content, and permissions
You are responsible for the prompts, task instructions, chat messages, files, attachments, repository content, command output, data, credentials, and other material you make available to an AI-powered feature. You must have the rights, permissions, and authority needed to provide that material and authorize the requested processing and actions.
Do not include credentials, sensitive personal information, confidential information, trade secrets, regulated data, or third-party content unless doing so is necessary, authorized, and appropriate for the feature you are using. Review and limit the accounts, repositories, systems, data, and permissions available to each worker and connected service. Our Privacy Policy explains how Chef handles information submitted to AI-powered features.
AI providers and processing
Project chat may send your message, recent chat history, and relevant project and board context to an AI model. Coding workers may process task instructions, attachments, repository content, command output, and other project context needed to perform the task. A local worker processes repository files in the environment where you run it; a cloud worker processes them in an isolated hosted environment.
Depending on the feature and authentication option you select, AI requests and related content may be processed through OpenAI, ChatGPT Codex, Vercel's AI infrastructure, or another configured provider. Third-party terms and policies may apply. MaxPoints does not control and is not responsible for a third-party provider's models, content, security, availability, changes, or practices.
No guaranteed outcomes
MaxPoints does not guarantee that Chef's AI-powered features or AI Outputs will meet your requirements, complete a task, improve your project, prevent errors or security incidents, or be free from defects, vulnerabilities, data loss, service disruption, or third-party intellectual property claims. Worker status messages, estimates, validation results, and completion reports do not replace your own review of the resulting work and affected systems.
No warranties
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CHEF'S AI-POWERED FEATURES AND AI OUTPUTS ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT REPRESENTATIONS OR WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. MAXPOINTS DISCLAIMS ALL EXPRESS, IMPLIED, AND STATUTORY WARRANTIES, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, RELIABILITY, MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty disclaimers, so some exclusions may not apply to you. Nothing in this AI Disclaimer excludes rights or warranties that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Limitation of liability
The limitations of liability in our Terms and Conditions apply to Chef's AI-powered features and AI Outputs. To the fullest extent permitted by law, MaxPoints is not responsible for losses or damages arising from reliance on an AI Output, failure to review or validate an AI Output, or actions taken by you, a worker, or a connected service in connection with an AI Output. These limitations do not apply to liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law.
Changes to this AI Disclaimer
We may update this AI Disclaimer as Chef, AI technologies, providers, or legal requirements change. We will post the updated disclaimer and revise the "Last updated" date above. If a change is material, we will provide additional notice when required by law.
